SCIL Program Evaluation Results
Measuring the Impact of the Sauk County Institute of Leadership
The Sauk County Institute of Leadership (SCIL) has been working to develop informed, civic minded leaders dedicated to a vibrant Sauk County since 1996. In 2007 the SCIL Board conducted an evaluation designed to measure the impact of the program. A Zoomerang® survey was emailed to 140 SCIL alumni and current class participants, and 49 responses were collected (35%). The following is a brief summary of the results.

I gained additional knowledge about local issues as a result of the SCIL program
Comments:
. SCIL helped me develop good listening and cooperative work skills.
. I am able to handle different personalities well and get goals accomplished.
. I have more focus on the big picture priorities.
. I am less hesitant to speak up and let my opinion be known.
. I learned better evaluation skills.
. I believe that I am a more collaborative leader as a result of this program.
. I continually use resources garnered from classes.
. Being conversant in local issues has allowed me to better integrate into the community and be recognized as a valued opinion leader in the area.
How has SCIL helped you improve the quality of your work?
Comments:
. I try to take time to focus on the "important" issues and not just the "urgent" ones. I have a solid base of contacts in virtually every corner of Sauk County.
. I feel better connected to the community and other local leaders.
. It gave me knowledge about my community which in turn gave me the confidence to take on more and higher levels of leadership at work.
. I am more resourceful due to the information I received from the class.
. It has expanded the decisions I make to include more of the Sauk County "world" than I knew existed prior to the course. It has also helped me to link families with resources they need.
. SCIL has given me greater strength and self confidence in serving as the leader.
. SCIL provided me with a better understanding of the issues involving Sauk County's history, present, & future.
. I am more knowledgeable about Sauk County and its needs, and I am more excited about leadership.
I am more effective in my existing leadership roles as a result of the SCIL program

It is important that a program like SCIL exists in Sauk County?
Comments:
• This is one of the most valuable training programs I have ever taken part in.
• Outstanding program. This course is a great introduction to the workings of the county and opens ones eyes to all that is happening here.
• I feel it gives each SCIL member the knowledge and confidence to build new leadership roles.
• It is a terrific program--outstanding, worthwhile and will be something that continues to be with me throughout my life.
• This program provides an excellent overview of topics/issues that are important in one way or another to everyone in Sauk County.
• We all need to get out of our area of expertise and put ourselves in situations that encourage personal growth.
